The Panthers let two W’s Slip Away

On Saturday, February 22nd, the Varsity Geneva Panthers travelled you Eufaula to play both Eufaula and Headland. 

This game was a heartbreaker for the Geneva Panthers, as they lost the lead late in a 4-2 defeat.  The game was tied at two with Eufaula batting in the bottom of the fifth when an error scored one run for Eufaula.

The Geneva Panthers lost despite out-hitting Eufaula four to three.

Ross Bixby led things off on the hill for Geneva. He surrendered two runs on one hit over four innings, striking out eight.  Aubrey Jenkins threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Clayton Dunn led Geneva with two hits in three at bats.  Geneva stole six bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Kahari McReynolds led the way with two.

Geneva next played Headland. The Panthers watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 12-1 loss to Headland on Saturday.  Headland scored on a walk by Edwards, a groundout by Jordan, and a single by Summerlin in the second inning.

The Panthers struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Headland, giving up 12 runs.

Clayton Dunn was on the mound for Geneva. He went two innings, allowing five runs on three hits and striking out two.  Aubrey Jenkins and Preston Garner entered the game from the bullpen, throwing three and two-thirds innings and one and one-third innings respectively.

The Panthers tallied five hits in the game.  Dunn and Jenkins all managed multiple hits for Geneva.  Jenkins and Dunn each collected two hits to lead Geneva.

Their record is now 2-3.
