A Powerful Victory over GECO

On Saturday, February 29, The Varsity Panthers hosted a game against Geneva County.

Geneva started off with the lead late in the game in a 15-4 victory over Geneva County.  The game was tied at four with Geneva batting in the bottom of the fourth when Kahari McReynolds singled on a 2-2 count. He scored two runs.

Geneva secured the victory due to 11 runs in the fourth inning.  The big inning was thanks to singles by McReynolds, Trent Spann, Clayton Dunn, and Aubrey Jenkins, an error on a ball put in play by Harrison McGowan and McReynolds, and a groundout by Ryan Jackson.

In the bottom of the third inning, the Panthers tied things up at four when Spann singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.

Jackson was on the pitcher’s mound for the Panthers. He pitched two innings, allowing one hit and four runs while striking out two.

The Panthers racked up 11 hits in the game.  Jenkins, Garner, and Spann all managed multiple hits.  They each got two hits to lead Geneva.  The Panthers tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Dunn led the way with three.

Their record is now 3-4.
