Geneva Panthers’ Thanksgiving Tournament Kicks off TONIGHT!

The first two games of the annual tournament will be tonight with the Varsity Boys Teams where Samson takes on Wicksburg at 5:00, and Geneva squares off against Rehobeth at 6:30. Come out and support your team in the Bixby Arena at the Geneva High School, but if you can’t make it in person you can always tune in and watch ALL of the games in high definition as the Panther Sports Network will be live-streaming the tournament in it’s entirety!

Geneva Basketball Preview

The Geneva Varsity Boys and Girls Teams have been preparing for the season. The Geneva Varsity Boys start their season home in the annual Thanksgiving Tournament hosted by Geneva on November 16th, 19th, and 20th. The Lady Panthers will begin their season in Montgomery in a tournament hosted by St. James on November 8th and 9th. The Girls and Boys teams will follow with Providence at home on November 27th, Rehobeth at home on November 29th, and at Geneva County on November 30th to wrap up November.

Geneva vs Calhoun

Geneva faced off against Calhoun to end the year. Kahari McReynolds led the team in rushing yards on just 4 carries with 78 yards, 2 rushing Touchdowns. Mason Coskrey added 42 yards on just 5 carries, 2 rushing Touchdowns, 12 passing yards, 4 tackles, and 2 pass deflections. Dylan Creech had 28 yards, 1 Touchdown, 4 tackles, and an interception. Geneva ended the season with a win over Calhoun 49-12.

Senior Night vs Wicksburg

There were a lot of tears before the game as Geneva set to face off against Wicksburg for Senior Night. Geneva got down big in this game and fought from behind the entire game. Senior Mason Coskrey scored all 3 Touchdowns for the Panthers with 45 rushing yards, 167 passing yards, and 12 tackles. Timothy McReynolds led in receiving yards with 149 while adding in 3 tackles defense. Dylan Creech wasn’t able to get going on the ground but added 47 passing yards along with his team high 17 tackles. Wicksburg came out victorious, ruining Geneva Senior Night 42-21.

Homecoming vs Slocomb

Homecoming in Geneva is like no other, many alumni that have moved off come back for Homecoming and week long festivities. The Assembly is on Friday morning followed by the parade after lunch and and finally the game on Friday. On Homecoming it’s usually standing room only on the home side. This year Geneva played host to rival Slocomb. Geneva and Slocomb went back and forth in an offensive battle throughout the entire game. Slocomb pulled through winning the game 63-56. Senior QB Mason Coskrey led with 92 rushing yards, 4 rushing Touchdowns, 160 passing yards and 7 tackles. Kahari McReynolds added 207 rushing yards, 2 rushing Touchdowns, 56 passing yards, 78 receiving yards, and 5 tackles. Dylan Creech had 90 rushing yards, 2 rushing Touchdowns, 64 receiving yards, and 6 tackles. Although Geneva failed to win this game, it was a close, high-scoring game that was very fun to watch.
